The Nation-Africa reported yesterday that the International Institute of Tropical agriculture launched the Cassava Planting Materials Distribution campaign at Wimbe in Kasungu, Malawi. The campaign is part of the IITA’s Unleashing the Power of Cassava in Africa (UPOCA) project.

Giant Cassava Variety Claimed in Java

Cassava roots come in big and small. But a cassava variety recently found belonging to Tumarjo Gatot Kaca (65), of Central Java, took the cake. The cassava, which weighed approximately 100 kilograms, and wasaround 50 times as large as regular cassava, had a length of one meter and circumference of 50 centimeters.
